When proofreading makes sense
If you have a translation already produced (by machine, by an in-house bilingual, or by a previous translator) and need an independent quality check, proofreading is the right service. We work against the source document to verify accuracy and rewrite sections where the target text is awkward or incorrect.
This is not light copy-editing. We work bilingually, comparing source and target, correcting errors, improving fluency, and flagging passages where the original may have been misunderstood.
What we deliver
A corrected document with tracked changes so you can see every amendment. A brief summary of the main error types identified - useful for understanding whether the original translation was broadly acceptable with minor corrections, or needed extensive revision. No surprises on the invoice.
Delivery: Proofreading turnaround matches translation: roughly 3,000-4,000 source words per business day.
Specific questions
If a draft is so poor that correction would take longer than retranslation, we will tell you. We quote for retranslation instead.
Yes. MT post-editing is a standard service. We price by the source word, not the volume of corrections.
